Service Through Action
Since 2003, Newport Beach has proudly supported the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines. From emergency aid to family outreach, every effort helps Marines stay mission-ready, knowing their community stands behind them.

Rooted in Tradition
From historic battles to modern missions, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines embodies the values that define the Corps and maintains a strong connection with veterans whose service continues to inspire. This enduring bond ensures every Marine today stands on the proud foundation built by those who came before.

1st Battalion, 1st Marines is one of the most storied and decorated infantry battalions in the U.S. Marine Corps.
“READY TO FIGHT” for over 80 years of service.
World War II
1941 – 1947
At Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, 1/1 quickly became a key infantry unit in the U.S. Marine Corps. After reactivation in 1942, the battalion fought in pivotal battles across the Pacific.
Korean War
1950 – 1955
1/1 deployed for the Inchon Landing and the infamous Chosin Reservoir Campaign, helping push back advancing forces and earning their place in Marine Corps legacy.
Vietnam War
1965 – 1971
1/1 was engaged in heavy combat across Da Nang, Hue City, and Khe Sanh, participating in key operations that defined Marine involvement in Vietnam.

Desert Storm
1990 – 1991
1/1 deployed during Operation Desert Storm, taking part in fast-moving armored warfare and helping liberate Kuwait. They returned home and remained mission-ready throughout the decade.
Global War on Terror
2001 - 2014
Following September 11, 2001, 1/1 became the first battalion to land in Afghanistan, establishing Camp Rhino and supporting Northern Alliance operations.
Present Day
2015 - Present
Now stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, 1/1 continues its legacy as the Ground Combat Element of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, remaining “Ready to Fight” in any clime or place.
Who does the Foundation support?
Newport Beach 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Foundation supports the active-duty Marines of 1st Battalion, 1st Marines and their families, especially during deployments, emergencies, and times of transition.
Is the Foundation affiliated with the U.S. Marine Corps?
No. While we proudly support the Marines, we operate independently as a nonprofit organization. Our mission is rooted in community partnership, not official military affiliation.
How are donations used?
Donations fund emergency family assistance, morale-boosting programs, and events that build strong connections between the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Foundation and the Newport Beach community.
How can I get involved?
You can support our mission by making a donation, volunteering your time, attending a fundraiser, or helping organize local events that benefit the Marines and their families.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. A receipt will be provided for your records.
Can I request support from the Foundation for a Marine or family?
Yes. If you know of a Marine or family in need, please contact us through our website or email. We review each request with care and confidentiality.
